MMM Development is working on behalf of the Basilica of St. Lawrence located in downtown Asheville. The goal is to help protect and preserve this beautiful 100 year old landmark from future structural encroachment of surrounding city development. The hope will be that future developers are compassionate to the history and beauty of the Basilica as an Asheville historical landmark. Over 300,000 tourists per year tour the Basilica for its history and beauty. The Basilica was designed and built by the famous architect Rafael Guastavino, also known for his designs at the Biltmore Estate and Ellis Island in New York. Rafael chose to be entombed at the Basilica, which was his most prized architectural accomplishment.
The above renderings are designs of MMM Development and show one type of development plan that would include an open plan restaurant plaza piazza design, with fountains, and trees, overlooking the Basilica. This would serve as a main draw to tourism and an enjoyment for all citizens while enhancing the history and culture of the area. MMM Development is open to discuss this project with other developers and investors. MMM would be positioned in a non profit status to do what is right for downtown on this site.
